Help shape the future of a community service that has been here for over 40 years.

SHARE is an independent, community focused cooperative that has supported local families for more than 40 years. The amazing management and staffing team are supported by a group of parent volunteers who provide governance, oversight and guidance.

We’re now seeking four new parents to join the SHARE Parent Committee in 2026.

Why we’re inviting new members

Like many volunteer committees, our membership evolves over time. Some current members are stepping down as their children move on from SHARE, and we’re also planning ahead for future leadership roles.

Bringing new parents onto the committee helps ensure:

  • Continuity and fresh perspectives

  • Strong governance and decision‑making

  • SHARE remains a true community‑run service

What does the Parent Committee do?

The Parent Committee acts as the governing body of SHARE. SHARE is an Approved Childcare Provider.

Committee members:

  • Provide governance, oversight and strategic direction

  • Oversee policy, safety and finance

  • Support (but do not manage) day‑to‑day operations

  • Bring their voice as parents

The management team is supported by specialist OOSH advisors, HR and policy consultants, and bookkeeping support - so committee members are not expected to be experts. The role is about oversight and thoughtful decision‑making for the sustainability and quality of the service.

This is an unpaid volunteer role.

Who can join?

To be eligible, you must:

  • Have a child currently attending SHARE
(before/after school care or vacation care)

  • Hold a Working With Children Check, or be willing to obtain one

  • Complete a National Criminal History Check

  • Complete a confidentiality and conflict of interest declaration

  • Be willing to complete short online training as a mandatory requirement

Time commitment
  • Monthly meetings

    • First Monday of each month

    • Around 10–12 meetings per year

    • Dinner and childcare provided (at no cost)

  • Some occasional time across the year to:

    • Read or review documents

    • Assist with small governance tasks

Future leadership opportunities

At the end of 2026 as part of standard succession planning nominations will open for:

  • President

  • Treasurer

  • Secretary

There is no expectation to take on a leadership role immediately.

Interested but have more questions?

We invite you to have an informal conversation with a current Parent Committee member to ask questions and learn more. There’s no obligation just a chance to see if it feels like the right fit.

Acknowledgement of Country

At SHARE, we acknowledge the Gadigal and Wangal of the Eora Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we learn, play, and grow together. We recognise their enduring connection to the land, waters, and skies and the vital role they play as the first educators of their children and communities.

We pay our deepest respects to their Elders past and present, and are committed to fostering a childcare environment that honours and learns from First Nations knowledge, traditions, and stories.
