Our Commitment to Child Safety

At SHARE OOSH, every child has the right to be safe, respected, and supported. We are committed to creating an environment where children feel secure, valued, and empowered to thrive.

We acknowledge our responsibility to protect children from harm and to act whenever concerns for a child’s safety or wellbeing arise. This commitment is shared by every person involved in our service, including staff, volunteers, committee members, and the wider SHARE OOSH community.

To keep children safe, we commit to:
  • Embedding the 10 Child Safe Standards into all aspects of our work.

  • Providing a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all children, every day.

  • Taking active steps to prevent children from being exposed to harmful conduct, abuse, or neglect.

  • Valuing children’s voices and giving them genuine opportunities to participate in decisions that affect them.

  • Ensuring children know who they can talk to if they feel unsafe, and that they will be listened to and supported.

As a child safe organisation, we will:
  • Ensure all staff, volunteers, and committee members understand their role in preventing, identifying, and responding to child safety concerns.

  • Provide ongoing training so our team is confident in responding to complaints, disclosures, allegations, and breaches of our Child Safe Code of Conduct.

  • Welcome feedback from children, families, staff, and community members to improve our child safe practices.

  • Promote a shared understanding that child safety is everyone’s responsibility and ensure all interactions with children align with our child safe values and procedures.

By living this commitment every day, we strive to make SHARE OOSH a place where children feel safe, supported, and heard, and where they can explore, play, learn, and grow with confidence.

Acknowledgement of Country

At SHARE, we acknowledge the Gadigal and Wangal of the Eora Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we learn, play, and grow together. We recognise their enduring connection to the land, waters, and skies and the vital role they play as the first educators of their children and communities.

We pay our deepest respects to their Elders past and present, and are committed to fostering a childcare environment that honours and learns from First Nations knowledge, traditions, and stories.
